An Integrated Regional Concertation?
The Comité Estrien pour les Saines Habitudes de Vie, the Alliance Estrienne pour la Solidarité et l’Inclusion Sociale, the Collectif pour le Développement Optimal des Enfants de 0-5 ans de la région de l’Estrie, the Projet Partenaires pour la Réussite Éducative en Estrie, and the Table Estrienne de Concertation Interordres en Éducation, invited the local and regional actors to join them for a day of co-creation in order to lay the foundation for a new integrated regional concertation model. Influenced by the current context, as well as by a movement toward the integration of different issues, these four thematic regional tables initiated a process of reflection in order to build a new model. Because the Estrie region covers a vast territory, whose needs vary tremendously from one community to another, this concertation on a regional level aims to support local community development and to create synergy between local and regional strengths in order to maximize benefits for the Estrie population. January 23rd of this year was a very productive day in Sherbrooke, one that allowed the actors to gain a better understanding of the process and to identify the needs, concerns and imperatives of a possible future integrated regional concertation. Local partners, in particular, felt heard regarding the importance of working on the basis of population needs throughout the territory, while respecting each population’s specific situation. Local and regional actors will be invited to a second working day on Monday, April 24 of this year, in Asbestos, in order to continue their reflection on the need to create a governing style and operating mechanisms in their own image.
