Since 2013, we’ve adopted a mission, and a global and integrated vision, that reaffirm the partners’ willingness to take actions that enhance the well-being and quality of life of 0-17 year olds. It was the beginning of a change that meant reflecting on, and addressing, ALL the needs of youth in our community, beyond the themes that were supported by our two funders, Avenir d’enfants and Québec en Forme. Although Memphré en Mouvement’s partners always based their action plans on real local issues and the realities in our territory - while being careful not to duplicate the missions of organizations already in place - we always confined our projects to the themes that were supported by our two main funders. But now that Québec en Forme’s funding is coming to an end, we need to translate these changes into concrete actions. The partners have made it clear that they wish to pursue the dialogue (collective action plans), the networking (getting to know one another and sharing information) and the concrete actions in the field (instituting lasting changes to improve the well-being and quality of life of 0-17 year olds). In order to make this dream a reality, the group is currently taking several important steps, such as following the regional level’s lead in addressing the different issue tables affecting youth; initiating a dialogue with the Socio-economic Youth Table; and writing to the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation to see if it might be able to support our concertation work. These efforts are being made in order to reach a stable solution for the MRC’s Youth Roundtable by the time Avenir d’enfants’ funding ends, in 2019. To be continued!
